Na Aljamaina Sterlinga i Petra Yana spadło sporo krytyki ze strony innych zawodników UFC – na tego pierwszego za aktorstwo, na tego drugiego za głupotę.
Podczas gali UFC 259 w Las Vegas Petry Yan stracił pas mistrzowski kategorii koguciej w niecodziennych okolicznościach. W końcówce czwartej rundy, gdy wydawało się, że ma walkę pod kontrolą i pewnie wygra ją na punkty albo nawet skończy Aljamaina Sterlinga, potraktował pretendenta nieprzepisowym kolanem na głowę.
Funk Master runął na deski, następnie przez kilka minut zwijając się i zataczając – próbował jakoby wracać na nogi, ale tak kręciło mu się w głowie, że każdym razem, wydawało się, że może jednak da radę, przegrywał z grawitacją.
